The launch of a new insurance and affinity benefits program was a top priority to current TechNet customers. The insurance benefit program enables TechNet member shops to access health insurance plans for the individual, family or small business, including medical, dental, life, prescription discounts, disability and pet insurance. Business coverage, as well as HR and payroll services, launched in May.

Among the new enhancements for 2019, TechNet’s nationwide warranty has been simplified for an improved customer experience for both motorists and member shops. When motorists have service and repairs performed by an authorized TechNet professional service facility, they are covered by a nationwide limited repair warranty that extends across North America for 24 months or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. At the same time, TechNet also increased value for member shops by increasing the rate paid for local labor reimbursement claims.

The TechNet digital menu board is a new benefit included in membership that displays the shop’s services and pricing, as well as educational programming related to car maintenance and care, on a smart TV in the customer service area of a TechNet member’s shop. This digital menu board is customizable, enabling shops to make updates in real time to showcase their offers, and TechNet can also provide custom content tailored to the shop’s program preferences.

TechNet’s new national installer program partnership with TireAmerica.com gives shop owners the ability to offer their customers access to Tire America’s inventory for a wide range of vehicles. This partnership allows customers to select the necessary tires for their vehicle online, with Tire America shipping the tires directly to the TechNet shop for installation.

Virtual Vehicle, another important element of TechNet, supports the service recommendation by bringing the inspection results to life via vehicle system animations that illustrate the cause and effect of each problem. The inventory of more than 400 animations can be viewed in the shop lobby or can be emailed or texted to the customer allowing them to make an informed decision with confidence. Virtual Vehicle is also integrated with several shop management systems that enable the animations to be included in a regular communication process, and can easily sent to a customer via text or email. Finally, a customized loop of animations can be served on a lobby monitor or embedded in the shop website providing customer education opportunities.

In case you hadn't heard, here's something you need to be aware of...

AAA is making some changes, in the way they are doing business.

Within the last few years, AAA has decided to build their own company-owned facilities.

Pay special attention to the search results marked (AAA Owned Facility).

The facilities are impressive and are gaining traction:

As you can see, their slogan is, "Auto Repair From A Name You Trust".

This is genius marketing, on their part...

Because customers equate the AAA logo, as a shop they can trust.

The other major change they've made is...

The new requirements for the AAA certification renewal.

Many shop owners did not read the fine print or notice the changes to the agreement.

In other words, the fine print requires certified shops to give AAA access to the shop's customer database.

The biggest concern is if you give them access to your customer database and then, they open a AAA Owned Facility, in your backyard...

They now have a built-in customer base they can market to.

What that means to you is...

This a major conflict of interest because now, they have all of your customers' information, which they can use to actively market and essentially steal your customers.

So, this is something to be considered, in deciding to continue to be affiliated, as a AAA certified shop.

warranty portion of the TECHNET program.

 

Have you used it? Have your customers used it? What is the response

time for towing, for example, when the customer used the nationwide coverage?

 

Have you had out-of-town customers referred or towed to your shop because
you are a TECHNET shop?

 

What has been the process been like for submitting a claim? Was it easy?

Were you reimbursed in a timely manner?

 

What about the road hazard warranty? Anyone selling their road hazard
warranty program?

 

Any information on your experiences would be helpful.

Certified Service Centerhttps://www.autoshopowner.com/forums/topic/10077-certified-service-center/We are currently a CSC for Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper. We are happy with them, and they are a block away from us so delivery is quick.

 

Auto Zone has recently broke ground for a new store in town. Now the other parts suppliers are scrambling to get as many auto repair shops to be CSC for their brand; coincidence? We have had a lot of promises thrown at us by salesmen.

 

Is there really any differences between what each brand offers?

We have in town:

Advanced Auto

O'Reilly

Car Quest

Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper

and soon Auto Zone

 

Just asking for input in case someone has a better program.

Nationwide warranty without a dedicated parts source?https://www.autoshopowner.com/forums/topic/8181-nationwide-warranty-without-a-dedicated-parts-source/I'm part of a banner program right now. It's working out well, but the local parts store we're associated with has some issues with inventory and delivery times. I'd like to be able to get the best part for the money through whichever supplier I chose. In my area, the name of our shop rings out much more than the name of the parts company so I really don't feel like I'm getting much from the banner program in terms of marketing.

 

The only real benefit I'm getting out of it is being able to offer my customers a 12 month 12,000 mile nationwide warranty on all work. Does anyone know of a program where I could get warranty coverage without having to go through a dedicated parts supplier?
