Tekmetric re-designed the appearance and I can not stand it. I refuse to pay $399 a month for software that gives me a headache to look at. Anyone have a good alternative to tekmetric with all the same functionality that either has a tiered pricing schedule that makes sense for smaller shops, or is less then $399 a month, or looks like tekmetric used to and costs about the same? The only integrations I use from tekmetric are parts ordering and the built in labor catalog, I do not use any of the marketing features so those are not important to me.

Most of are familiar or use the more popular Automotive Business Management systems, such as MItchell 1 or RO Writer. However, there is a lot of concern among many shop owners that these companies in particular are not meeting the needs for the modern automotive repair shop. What system do you use and/or what systems have you checked into that look promising?

We are in the process of switching to a digital inspection system that will allow us to send customers a detailed vehicle report including pictures and videos. We're about to invest in tablets for our technicians, and I'm hoping some of you have already traveled this road and can lend some advice on which type of tablets to buy or not to buy. I'm leaning toward Samsung, but I've also heard good things about the Amazon Fire tablets. I'm open to all feedback, but I have absolutely no interest in buying Apple products. Their totalitarian attitude toward their hardware and software systems just doesn't jive with my free-market values. Key Considerations: Speed and functionality Durability Camera must have a flash Low cost is a plus, but less important Thanks in advance!
